To the delight of fans, the creator of the “Squid Game” event series announces an even darker season 2. It’s official, Squid Game season 2 is getting ready. In a new interview, Hwang Dong-hyuk then announces a season that will be more chilling.
Squid Game: Season 2 Is Coming! It Is Official
The creator of Squid Game was not planning a sequel for his phenomenon series. As fans wait for season 2, he decides to look into it. Not long ago, the very famous South Korean director was interviewed by Entertainment Weekly.
In it, he offers some details on the rest of his plans. Hwang Dong-took announces even darker and chilling new episodes.
“In the first season, Gi-hun is a character whose humanity is shown through certain situations,” explains the star of the moment.
“He appears to be fairly passive,” he observes. “I think in the second season, he will apply what he learned in a much more proactive way. The masked agent is a former winner, and he joined the camp of evil. He’s like Darth Vader. Some become Jedi, and some become Darth Vader, don’t they?”
“I think Gi-hun is going to have to go through a difficult time, like a test. There was so much pressure, so many requests, and so much love for a second season that I almost feel like you are leaving us no choice,” laughs Hwang Dong-hyeok.
“But yes, I confirm that there will be a second season,” reveals the director. Something to delight millions of fans around the world.
Squid Game: A Show Which Made History
Squid Game is a South Korean series of nine episodes broadcast from September 17, 2021, on Netflix. Very quickly, it then met with enormous success.
It reinvents an already very popular genre: Battle Royale.
In Squid Game, the confrontation takes on a whole new dimension. Here, the participants in the squid game are fighting for their survival, but also, and above all, for money.
A group of 456 people agrees to participate in a large-scale game. They do not know the rules but let themselves be seduced by the sum promised to the winner. Every day for a week, they take part in tests evoking our childhood activities. We find the tug of war, marbles, or even the mythical “one, two, three, sun.”
The only difference is that losing leads to death. Yes, you read that correctly. Some are ready to do anything to reach the end. The series has accumulated more than 130 million views in less than a month. It thus stands out as the most watched on Netflix.
