The last adult cast member of Frank Capra’s “It’s a Wonderful Life,” Virginia Patton Moss, a former actress, passed away on August 18 in Albany, Georgia. Age-wise, she was 97.
The passing of Moss was verified by Legacy. Karolyn Grimes, a young actor who co-starred with Moss in “It’s a Wonderful Life,” paid tribute to her co-star on Facebook.
“We now have a second angel! Mary Patton Moss. She was 97 years old, according to Grimes. She is now with Cruse, her adored. She’ll be sorely missed!
In the 1946 motion picture, Moss is given credit under her birth name, Virginia Patton. She portrayed Ruth Dakin Bailey, who was the sister-in-law of James Stewart’s George Bailey and the wife of Todd Karns’ Harry Bailey. The only remaining adult cast member of the holiday favorite was Moss (a number of the child actors in the film, such as Grimes, are still alive).
At the University of Southern California, Moss started her performing career by appearing in plays and supporting roles in films. She took part in interviews about her time working on “It’s a Wonderful Life” for the rest of her life.

According to Moss’ husband, Cruse W. Moss, “Virginia was the only girl that was contracted personally by Frank Capra” in 2012. “Another studio provided loans for everyone else in that movie. However, Ginny was not working for the studio when Frank Capra signed her for the film.
Before quitting acting, Moss appeared in four additional movies, including the 1948 Western “Black Eagle,” in which he played the major role. The comedy “The Lucky Stiff,” starring Dorothy Lamour, Brian Donlevy, and Claire Trevor, was her last appearance on screen.
In 1949, the actress wed Cruse W. Moss, adopting his last name. Together, they moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, where Moss started a business, brought up a family of three, and worked as a docent at the University of Michigan Museum of Art. Virginia and Cruse stayed wed until Cruse passed away in 2018.
When asked why she decided to give acting up, Moss replied in 2012, “I couldn’t imagine myself doing that for my life.” “I desired to be exactly who I am. Ann Arbor, Michigan, has a great spouse, great kids, and a good member of the neighborhood. I give my everything to the neighborhood.

Which It’s a Wonderful Life cast members are still alive? Zuzu Bailey’s on-screen counterpart, Karolyn Grimes, is still alive. Grimes, who was born in 1940, is 81 years old right now. Ruth Dakin Bailey’s on-screen counterpart, Virginia Patton, is still alive.
Why does It’s a Wonderful Life include a crow?
Uncle Billy, George Bailey’s mother’s forgetful brother, keeps a variety of animals and works at the Building and Loan. He keeps one creature inside the workplace itself, a black crow. The crow, which represents death, represents the fact that the Building and Loan Company is perpetually in danger of going out of business.
