Blake Shelton is talking about being a stepfather.
The 46-year-old country music star took on this role when he married Gwen Stefani in 2021. He talked about what he’s learned about parenting so far and what it’s meant to him in an interview that came out on Wednesday.
“They’ve taught me something about myself I never knew: I’m more than just a country singer or a goofy guy,” Shelton said about Stefani’s sons Kingston, 16, Zuma, 14, and Apollo, 8, whom she shares with her ex-husband Gavin Rosedale.
“They actually lean on me, which is a responsibility I’ve never had and something I’ve never even thought about doing.”
He also said, “It’s a different kind of self-worth.” “Maybe it’s the opposite of self-worth because you put yourself way down on the ladder and they move up ahead of you.”
Shelton said that he made the decision to leave “The Voice” after its 23rd season in March 2023, in part so that he could spend more time with his stepsons.
He said, “You won’t know what you’ll regret until you look back one day.” “I think I’d regret staying on this path because I’d miss out on some more important things in life, like our kids right now.”

“When you have kids, you really do think, “Whoa. Wait a This is no longer about me, and it never will be again.” If you don’t tell yourself that, you’re only going to hurt yourself because you’ll miss out on what Shelby put in.
“I’ve done more than I ever thought I could and made a lot of money, but you can’t buy back time.” “I want to put my money into my family right now.”
