The upcoming Netflix Original fantasy drama The School for Good and Evil is based on the best-selling books by Soman Chainani with the same name. Paul Feig, who directed the Ghostbusters remake, Spy, The Heat, and episodes of The Office, is in charge of the movie.
Chainani and David Magee were both credited with writing the movie’s screenplay. Hook’s screenplay writer, Malia Scotch Marmo, has also been given writing credit.

Every four years, on the night of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, two children ages 12 are taken from the village of Gavaldon and taken to the School for Good and Evil. Sophie, who has blonde hair and is very pretty, wants to be taken to school and live happily ever after as a princess with a prince who loves her. Sophie’s best friend Agatha, on the other hand, couldn’t be more different. She is ugly, with dark hair, bug-like eyes, and a house in a graveyard.
Both are perfect for the school, but on the fateful night of the kidnapping, they are both sent to the “wrong” school, much to their horror. Sophie comes to the school for evil as a student and becomes a “Never,” while Agatha goes to the school for good and becomes an “Ever.”
