Francis Lawrence will direct the upcoming film Slumberland. For the audience, fantasy films have served as an escape. For a brief moment, everything is as lovely as unicorns and rainbows. Slumberland, one such upcoming film, will be released soon.
The film is based on Winsor McKay’s Little Nemo in Slumberland comics. These comics have also inspired other works, and this upcoming film is the second adaptation after the 1989 Japanese animated film.
Slumberland Release Date
On August 24, 2022, Netflix announced that Slumberland, starring Jason Momoa, would be released on November 18, 2022. The film’s release is just a week before Thanksgiving, and it will undoubtedly be a big hit with families during the holiday season.
The film’s principal photography wrapped in May 2021, and it had been in post-production for about 11 months as of April 20, 2022. Because this is a fantasy film, it’s not surprising that post-production took a long time. There’s a lot of CGI and other special effects that need to be worked out before it’s ready to watch.
We had hoped for a summer release, but Netflix’s decision to hold the film until the fall, near the holiday season, makes a lot of sense for the family film.
No, you’re not dreaming—that’s Jason Momoa with a full set of horns.
Here's a sneak peek behind the scenes at SLUMBERLAND, a new adventure story about an eccentric outlaw (Momoa) who guides a young hero (Marlow Barkley) through a secret dreamworld.

Slumberland Plot
The young female protagonist in the Slumberland story will be called Nema, which is Greek for “nobody.” Nemo was originally a boy in the comics, but the movie gives it a welcome new twist by casting a woman in the part.
According to what we have seen, characters named Nemo are always cooking up some sort of adventure, and in this case, Nema will also be seen on an adventure in the fantastical setting of Slumberland. Nema’s late father told her a bedtime story about a fantasy land, and when she later had the chance to travel there, she met a man named Flip who would accompany her on all of her adventures and quests.
Nema makes a good friend out of Flip, who is allegedly an outlaw who enjoys having fun. She hopes that Slumberland will provide her with the chance to reunite with her deceased father. Nema and Flip will therefore be seen on a quest to visit Nema’s father once more in the crazy fantasy land.
Slumberland Cast
As Nema, Marlow Barkley will make her feature film debut. She is well-known for both her voice work on the Disney animated series Amphibia and for playing Sophie Cooper in the television series Single Parents. She is also working on a number of upcoming projects, such as Spirited, a musically enhanced modern retelling of Charles Dickens’s classic book A Christmas Carol scheduled for release on Apple TV+ in 2022. Jason Momoa will portray Flip, a part that was originally voiced by Mickey Rooney in the 1989 adaptation (Aquaman). In HBO’s popular series Game of Thrones, Momoa is best known for his portrayal of Khal Drogo, the leader of the Dothraki people.
A brand-new character named Matt will be portrayed by The Handmaid’s Tale actor Luxton Handspiker. He can be seen driving a mysterious dreamland vehicle in the trailer alongside Nema and Flip. Kyle Chandler will portray the unnamed character who will play Nema’s father. The movies Bloodline, Godzilla vs. Kong, and Game Night made Chandler famous. India de Beaufort, who was most recently seen in the movie Kimi, and Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids) have both been cast in an unnamed role.
Tonya Cornelisse (Yellowjackets), Jamillah Ross (Chucky), Weruche Opia (I May Destroy You), and Leslie Adlam (Becky) all play the four characters designated as Agent Red, Agent Orange, Green, and Brown, respectively. It’s unclear what function these agents will serve in Slumberland or whether Nema and Flip will view them as allies or foes.

Where To Watch Slumberland
The upcoming fantasy movie’s distributor is Netflix, so when it is released, Slumberland streaming will happen there as well. Due to the fact that Slumberland’s release date has been set for November 18, 2022, Netflix will make the movie accessible to viewers that day.
The movie will be available in English and will have a running time of around two hours. Before Slumberland premieres on Netflix, viewers can watch the Japanese animated movie Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland for some pointers. The animated movie, which debuted in 1989, was also influenced by the same source as the film Slumberland.
