Smile is an upcoming horror film by American director Parker Finn, and if the first trailers are any indication, we’ll be sleeping with the lights on after seeing it.
The creepy-looking movie is based on his short film Laura Hasn’t Slept, which was about a young woman who was desperate to get rid of a recurring nightmare and went to see her therapist for help. The feature-length version goes into this topic even more.
Parker Finn told Imageantra(opens in new tab) why he chose to focus the movie on the act of smiling: “Smiles show warmth, friendship, and kindness, and they are a basic emotion. We learn to smile as babies, even before we can talk.
“It’s part of what it means to be human, so I wanted to see if I could flip that image and make a smile mean something evil, dangerous, and threatening, like a predatory gesture.”

Smile will come out in theatres all over the world on September 30, 2022. It was made by Paramount Pictures. We don’t know yet if the movie will also be available to stream on Paramount Plus, but we’ll let you know if it does.

Dr. Rose Cotter, played by Sosie Bacon, is the main character. Other characters include Trevor, played by Jessie T. Usher, Joel, played by Kyle Gallner, Detective Buckley, played by Perry Strong, and Officer Wilkes, played by Shevy Gutierrez.
Also, Caitlin Stasey, who played Laura in Laura Hasn’t Slept, joins the cast as a patient. She’s the one with the creepy smile in all the promo photos!

So, not much is known about the plot of the new horror movie that everyone is looking forward to. All we know is that a strange thing is happening that makes people smile in a really creepy way. There must be something going on!
