Season 3 of The Witcher is currently being filmed, but it looks like the fantasy epic may be coming to an end soon. The most recent news came from the showrunner for the series, Lauren S. Hissrich, who said that filming was almost done. She shared a picture of her snacks and painkillers on Twitter at the end of August and wrote, “I call this ‘We’re Almost Done and I’ve Lost the Will for Salads and Meditation Give Me Donuts and Drugs.’ #TheWitcher.”
It’s not yet clear what this will mean for when the show will come back to Netflix. But we’ve looked closely at the first two seasons of The Witcher to try to figure out when the third season will come out. Also, there have been rumors that one of the show’s main bad guys might be played by someone else. We’ve put together all the latest news from the set of the show, the official logline from Netflix, and some of the most popular theories about what could happen next to help you keep up.
So, if you can’t wait for Henry Cavill’s Geralt to come back or can’t wait to hear what new songs the Bard has written, you don’t need to look any further. Here is everything you need to know about The Witcher season 3: the cast, the plot, and when it might come out.

The Witcher Season 3 Release Date Details
Season 3 of The Witcher has been officially renewed for 2023. The date for The Witcher season 3 hasn’t been set yet, but The Witcher and The Witcher season 2 both came out on Netflix in December 2019. The Witcher Season 3 Expected Cast Details
Geralt (Henry Cavill), Ciri (Freya Allan), and Yennefer will all be back for the third season of The Witcher (Anya Chalotra). We can expect to see characters like Vesemir (Kim Bodnia), Lambert (Paul Bullion), and Coen (Yasen Atour) in season 3 after the finale.
Other series regulars Jaskier (Joey Batey), Fringilla (Mimi Ndiweni), and Cahir (Eamon Farren) will probably have a part to play, as will Francesca (Mecia Simson), Filavandrel (Tom Canton), Triss (Anna Shaffer), Tissia (MyAnna Buring), Dara (Wilson Mbomio), Istredd (Royce Pierreson) (Lars Mikkelsen).
A few characters who were introduced in the second season are also likely to show up again. They are Graham McTavish as Dijkstra, Cassie Clare as Phillipa, and Lydia as Lydia (Aisha Fabienne Ross). Also, let’s not forget that Duny, now called Nilfgaardian Emperor Emhyr, came back (Bart Edwards).
Hissrich also told GamesRadar+ that Simon Callow, who plays Codringher, and Lizz Carr, who plays Fenn, will be back for the third season.
There are also going to be four new actors. Meng’er Zhang from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will play Milva, a “fierce and talented huntress” who was “adopted by the dryads of Brokilon Forest.”
“Born to fight” Gallatin is played by Robbie Amell. He is in charge of a group of Scoia’tael rebels who fight for Nilfgaard. Hugh Skinner plays Radovid, who is the “Royal playboy” and the younger brother of King Vizimir. Suddenly, Radovid becomes a member of Redanian Intelligence.
Mistle is one of The Rats, and Christelle Elwin plays her on the show. They are a group of teenagers who don’t fit in and steal from the rich to give to themselves and sometimes to the poor.
Adjoa Andoh, who plays Nenneke, doesn’t know if they’ll be back, though. Andoh told Radio Times, “Yeah, I don’t know. We’ll see” (opens in new tab). “The books are so long and the stories have gone in so many different directions. Nenneke shows up a lot in the books, but it depends on what they want to do with this version of the story.”
Redanian Intelligence (opens in new tab) says that one of the main bad guys in season 2 has also been recast. Rience, who was played by Chris Fulton before, seems to have left the show. Photos from the set show that The Crown’s Sam Woolf will now play the mage.
Plot Details Of The Witcher Season 3
The Witcher season 3 will be the last one. Stephen Surjik, a key director on the show, told Brigade Radio, “The writers and producers mapped out season 4. Oh yeah. I don’t know if I’m part of that mapping program, but at least they told me that they’re mapping it out.” Again, this hasn’t been officially confirmed, but it’s a good sign of things to come.
