A White House official and a senator’s spokeswoman confirmed that President Joe Biden and McConnell spoke on the phone on 26 July 2023, Wednesday.
When reporters asked how he was feeling, McConnell replied, “I’m fine.” He didn’t say anything about what happened earlier in the day or whether he saw a doctor.
McConnell stumbled and fell at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington on March 8 following an event for the Senate Leadership Fund, a Republican super PAC affiliated with McConnell and GOP leadership. He was admitted to the hospital with a concussion and a slight rib fracture and was released on March 13 before entering rehab.

However, he did not return to the Senate until mid-April. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., told NBC press on Wednesday that after the Senate GOP leadership press conference, he met with McConnell for a routinely scheduled meeting “to catch up on both houses.”

“He was really good,” McCarthy remarked. “There were no concerns raised about his health during the meeting.” McConnell has been a member of the Senate since 1985. He is not up for re-election until the midterm elections in 2026. Stay tuned to The Current Online for more updates.
