Yarwood had a history of cardiac disease and had a heart attack at home in 1990. He recovered from the tragedy and quit drinking, something he had struggled with for years. In 1999, he also sought treatment for depression at the Priory Clinic in London.
He has been living a calm and private life away from the spotlight in recent years. He rarely appeared in public or gave interviews. He last appeared on television in 2006, when he was interviewed by Michael Parkinson.

Mike Yarwood was born in Bredbury, Cheshire, on June 14, 1941. He began his career in show business as a runner-up in a talent event at a tavern in Dukinfield. He subsequently traveled to Northern England’s pubs and working men’s clubs, refining his skills as an impressionist and comedian.
In 1964, he made his television debut on Sunday Night at the London Palladium. He quickly became well-known for his impersonations of celebrities such as Harold Wilson, Edward Heath, James Callaghan, Prince Charles, Ken Dodd, Frankie Howerd, Steptoe and Son, Max Bygraves, Frank Spencer, and many others.
