Peta Murgatroyd and Maks Chmerkovskiy are extending their family! The Dancing with the Stars alum, 37, revealed on Instagram on Monday that she is pregnant with her third child with Chmerkovskiy, 44, only seven months after receiving their second son Rio.
“We Are Having A Baby 🎉🙈🙏🏻,” she wrote in her caption. “Yes we know…we just had a baby… haha! This was very unexpected (4 months postpartum with Rio) but we are sooooo happy and so ready to be a family of 5 soon!”

“Surpising [sic] @maksimc on this FaceTime with my two friends secretly filming from different angles made it all the more hilarious. It took one hour for me to get the courage to call him 😂 and when he wasn’t catching on we all couldn’t stop laughing in the kitchen. I had the ‘I’m so sick story’ the pickle and 2 bottles HAHA! Oh Maks 🥴,” she continued.
The expectant mother of three went on to acknowledge “everything we’ve been through” to have baby number three.
“After everything we’ve been through with miscarriages and IVF we’re beyond blessed and know we are uber lucky for this miracle to happen to us. We’re just so happy that we can finally tell you guys the good news 🥹,” Murgatroyd wrote.
Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy already have two kids, Rio and Shai, aged seven. Just a few days after the birth of their baby Rio, the couple exclusively introduced him to PEOPLE and revealed his name.
“We loved Rio, which we came upon at the last minute. It’s a perfect complement to our long surname!” Murgatroyd said at the time. “We also wanted something easy to say with Shai.”

The baby’s middle name, John, honors the Murgatroyds’ late father, Derek John, who died in December 2022. Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy spoke exclusively to people in September about their new life as a family of four, having welcomed son Rio in June.
“It’s been amazing,” Murgatroyd remarked of their adjustment to a family of four. “I mean, it’s so busy, hectic at times, but also great and lovely. I simply adore this period. I mean, it is so precious. It’s quite sensitive because you never get these stages back.”
“So I’m leaning into just being super present and being there for my boys,” the pro dancer said. “We’re a house full of boys right now. We thought he was a girl though. We did.” “We wanted him to be a girl,” Chmerkovskiy agreed as Murgatroyd added, “He’s our special boy.”
