Weber’s career spanned more than 50 years, beginning as Head Athletics Trainer and ending as an associate director at the Razorback Foundation. Weber, known for his dedication and commitment to the university and its student-athletes, made an indelible mark on the Razorback community.

Weber graduated from Bridgewater College and began his career as an assistant sports trainer at the University of North Carolina before joining the University of Arkansas in 1973. He worked closely with famous coaches and made substantial contributions to sports training during his career, receiving national reputation for his skills.

The whole Razorback community mourns Weber’s death, and plans for a memorial ceremony are already underway. His contributions to the university and the lives of countless student-athletes will be remembered with affection and gratitude.

Who was Dean Weber?

Dean Weber, a native of Chantilly, Virginia, joined the Arkansas sports training staff in 1973. He took over as chief athletic trainer from Jim Bone that same year. He worked under eight head football coaches, overseeing the football program’s training room protocol, administration, and travel arrangements.

Throughout his 35-year career, he never missed a game, working 416 consecutive games until his final one in the 2008 Cotton Bowl.

He also worked as the director of equipment operations for all 19 Razorback athletic programs until 2014, when he joined the Razorback Foundation as an assistant director. He was inducted into the Arkansas Hall of Fame in 2018 and recognized by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Southwest Athletic Trainers’ Association.

How did Dean Weber die?

According to sources, Weber died at home in Fayetteville, Arkansas, following a protracted struggle with health concerns.

The particular cause of his ailment was unknown, but he had been hospitalized several times in the previous few years.No foul play is suspected in his death, and his family has picked a funeral home to which his corpse will be released.
