The Previous Updates About This Amber Alert
“It’s a relief that she was recovered safely, now the main job is finding out who the suspect is, the vehicle and bringing some closure for this family and this little girl,” The Dallas Police Department’s spokeswoman, Kristin Lowman, said this.
DPD put out a list of what happened on Sunday in order on Monday. Investigators say that a 9-year-old girl and a 7-year-old girl left their apartment on the 1500 block of Argentia Drive around noon. A man approached them as they walked and offered to drive them somewhere.
“They were approached by a Black male suspect in what’s being described as a gray crossover vehicle, stopped and offered the children a ride and the children got in the car. They went to a local store where the 9-year-old got out, went to the door, turned back around once realized the store was closed and the suspect drove off with the girl inside the car,” Lowman said that this happened at about 12:15 p.m.
Around 12:33 p.m., an adult found the 9-year-old in the parking lot of a shopping center at the corner of South Polk Street and West Kiest Boulevard and called 911. The search for the 7-year-old girl started then. DPD says that when police arrived at the scene, they tried to find out who the children were and the supposed driver.
As soon as the police were able to find the lost 7-year-old missing girl, the police canceled the AMBER alert.
At 6:45 p.m., after the girl had been missing for about six hours, the police sent out an AMBER Alert. She was later found at 12:40 a.m. in her apartment building.
“Almost 1 a.m. when a child was seen in that same apartment complex where they had left from, the neighbor recognized her and she was taken to a local hospital for treatment,” said Lowman.
No car was seen dropping off the child near where she was found, police said. The man who offered to drive the kids somewhere was said to be black and have short, dark hair. People thought he was about 30 years old. The car was said to be a gray crossover SUV with missing spots of color. Anyone who knows something should call 214-671-4268. The Dallas Police Department is getting help from the FBI and the Secret Service.
