Authorities reported Monday, June 26, that an out-of-control car landed in a southwest Florida retention pond and plunged underwater, killing all five teenagers in the vehicle. A restaurant manager stated that four victims worked together at a nearby Roadhouse.

According to Fort Myers Police Department officials, the tragedy occurred late Sunday or early Monday, killing three women and two men between 18 and 19.

The adolescents’ names were not immediately published. On Monday, additional information was kept from being made available.

According to CBS station WINK-TV, Interim Fort Myers Police Chief Randall Pepitone was present. At the same time, officers and deputies worked to pull the victims from the automobile and apply life-saving procedures, but there were no survivors.

“My condolences to the family of these victims,” Pepitone added.

The Texas Roadhouse stated it was “deeply saddened” by the loss of the four employees in a Facebook post.

“Our team is grieving alongside their families and friends,” according to the post. “We appreciate the support of our Ft. Myers community during this difficult time.”

Fort Myers Police stated anyone with information on what happened before and after the crash can contact SWFL Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS or the Atlas One app. Tips can be left anonymously.
