Emmy Rossum, Angelyne Transformation For Television Show:
Emmy Rossum is undergoing a significant transformation in preparation for her next role.
Rossum, who plays the mysterious 1980s Los Angeles poster queen of the same name, appears drastically different in photographs from the new Peacock streaming series “Angelyne.”
Angelyne got renowned for becoming famous before reality stars like Kim Kardashian by launching a gorgeous marketing campaign using simply her name and appearance.
However, Rossum’s transition into the blond bombshell wasn’t without its difficulties.
The 35-year-old actress told The Hollywood Reporter that her character’s massive 3-pound false breasts suffered her blisters and that wearing two sets of special lenses and heavy eye makeup caused her tear ducts to clog.
The actress looked completely unrecognizable in her teased blond wig, bleached brows, and artificial breasts after spending up to five hours a day in makeup.
The actress, who gave birth to a daughter last year, described the experience of transforming into a character who doesn’t resemble her as “absolutely liberating.”
“At first, it’s unnerving,” she said to The Hollywood Reporter. “However, feeling lost leads to this true liberty – from myself and the stumbling blocks that can impede a performance.”
Even Rossum’s husband, Sam Esmail, who is an executive producer on the movie, commented that it was “sort of weird” how much his wife turned into Angelyne. Sam Esmail is also an executive writer and producer.
“When I say there were times when I didn’t recognize her because she was lost in this person,” Esmail told the publication, “I genuinely mean it.” “I’m talking about my wife here.”
Rossum leaned into Angelyne’s thinking for the job, including “buying her meditation cassettes on eBay,” in addition to the physical modifications.
“She communicates things about identity that are extremely resonant and deep,” Rossum said of the billboard model. “How to find yourself out of anguish, out of loss, out of sadness, in this hot pink bubblegum Barbie fantasy.” “It worked on me.”
