After a year-long struggle with cancer, the parents of the popular YouTuber Technoblade, known for his funny Minecraft videos, confirmed his death on Thursday.
Most of Technoblade’s life was hidden from public view, but in a video featuring his farewell goodbye to followers, posted after his death, he disclosed that his real first name was Alex.
After explaining that the money he made from “selling out” will be used to send his siblings to college, Technoblade thanked his supporters for their support and claimed that if he could do it all over again, he’d still choose to be Technoblade. Those years were the best of my life.
A number of sources have said that he was 23 years old, however as Technoblade pointed out in his final video, he would sometimes joke with fans about his age, so an exact birthday is unknown. In a tweet posted in December 2021, Technoblade hinted that his birth year was either late 1999 or 2000. The date of his birth was not included in his farewell statement.

We, the family of Technoblade, wanted you all to know exactly how much he liked and valued his fans and colleagues,” they wrote in a statement released Thursday.
They concluded the statement by saying:
From the beginning of his online presence, “Technoblade was always plotting methods to delight and reward his audience,” the statement reads. With a charming mix of self-assurance and self-deprecation, he maintained his good-natured modesty even after his eventual accomplishments. We ask that you respect his desire for anonymity and the privacy of his loved ones by not disclosing his genuine identify.
Our son’s struggle with stage 4 cancer has been fraught with difficulty for the past year. He did not whine, though, and continued to employ his legendary tactical mind in the face of nearly insurmountable obstacles. My son’s courage along this journey has been an inspiration to everyone who has shared his journey. We appreciate you following along as he did the work he loved for his devoted audience.
In the summer of 2021, Technoblade abruptly stopped uploading new videos, but he came back in August to tell his audience that he had been diagnosed with cancer.
