One story that emerged after the series premiere as a preview of what was to come was a lawsuit the family had recently faced. So, who filed the lawsuit against the Kardashians? Find out more about what happened below before next week’s episode airs.

Who was suing The Kardashians for $100 million?

According to Us Weekly, Blac Chyna, whose real name is Angela White, filed a defamation and contract interference lawsuit against some Kardashian-Jenner family members in 2017, including Kim, Kris, Khloé, and Kylie.

According to NBC News, Chyna claims the family “defamed her and improperly interfered with her contracts and business dealings” and is suing for $100 million.

According to Us Weekly, “Chyna claimed in court documents that the Kardashian family was responsible for the end of her reality show with Rob.”

“Chyna claimed that the Kardashians contacted E! in February 2017 to ‘demand the network not proceed with the second season of Rob & Chyna,'” the report continues.

The case was won by the Kardashians

“Blac Chyna’s lawyer claimed that Chyna’s career in reality TV was ‘permanently damaged as a result of the Kardashian family,” Us Weekly reported at the time.

However, on May 2, 2022, the case concluded that the Kardashians had won and Chyna had not been awarded any damages.

Following the verdict, Chyna’s attorney stated that they intend to appeal the case.

According to Us Weekly, the Kardashian-Jenner family requested $391,094.76 in court costs from Chyna in June 2022.

What is Blac Chyna’s relationship with the Kardashians?

As many may recall, Rob, the family’s only brother, confirmed his relationship with the model in 2016 and, after only a few months, surprised his family with a marriage proposal and the news that they were expecting a child together.

Chyna also has a son, King Cairo, with rapper Tyga, who was dating Rob’s younger sister, Kylie, at the time. Essentially, tensions were high, and it took some time for the family to accept her.

The romance, however, did not last long, and after the birth of their daughter Dream Kardashian in late 2016, they called it quits in 2017. And this was just the beginning of the Kardashian family’s tumultuous journey.

Why did Blac Chyna file a $100 million lawsuit against the Kardashians?

Rob & Chyna, their own E! reality show, debuted while the two were still “going strong,” whatever that means. After the show was renewed for Season 2, the duo split and the network informed Variety that it would be put on hold in order to “follow the [Kardashian] family’s lead” on any future steps, according to Us Weekly. The show was eventually canceled and never returned for a second season.

Meanwhile, according to Us Weekly, Chyna blamed the family for the show’s cancellation and eventually filed a lawsuit on the grounds of “defamation, intentional interference with contract, and intentional interference.”
