The Witcher universe on Netflix is getting bigger, and fans can’t wait to see The Witcher: Blood Origin, a live-action prequel series. The series has been in the works for a while, and last year was the last time that it was filmed.
Even though we don’t have a firm release date yet, the next page will show you all the information we have about the show, such as the synopsis, cast information, directors, filming locations, and more.
The Witcher: Blood Origin takes place more than a thousand years before Geralt of Rivia was born. It will show how the first Witcher came to be and how the world became so big and strange.
While filming for the main show continues this year, you can soon find out more about The Witcher: Blood Origin and some of the other projects in this popular franchise that are in the works at Netflix.
“The Witcher: Blood Origin”: When Will It Release?
Every story has to start somewhere. The Witcher: Blood Origin is a new prequel series that takes place 1200 years before the events of The Witcher. It shows the history of the Continent that has never been told. Blood Origin will tell a story that has been lost to time.
It will show how the first prototype Witcher was made and what happened before the important “Conjunction of the Spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, humans, and elves merged into one. The Witcher: Blood Origin will only be on Netflix when it comes out in 2022.
The series started filming in August in the United Kingdom. Sir Lenny Henry, Mirren Mack, Nathaniel Curtis, and Dylan Moran have also been cast.

“The Witcher – Blood Origin”: What Is The Plot Of The Prequel Series?
The new series won’t be about Henry Cavil, aka Witcher, the white wolf. Since it is prehistory, the series takes place around 1200 years before Geralt von Rivia and the other “The Witcher” characters in an elven world. It is supposed to show the genesis of the very first sorcerer and how the world has merged with monsters, people, elves, and wizards.
The conjunction of spheres is significant here. She was the reason why the different worlds collided. So far, the story of the first witchers has only been touched upon or told casually in all ” Witcher ” media. This is going to change. The trailer for the series has recently been in circulation. This shows excellent battles, brave warriors, and lots of action. Unfortunately, only six episodes are planned. So “The Witcher: Blood Origin” will be a mini-series. We are still very excited about it.
The show will star Sophia Brown as Eile, an elite warrior. Eile leaves her clan and the position of Queen’s guardian to follow her dream of becoming a musician. Moreover, we will see Michelle Yeoh as Scion, Laurence O’Fuarain as Fjall, Mirren Mack as Merwyn, Jacob Collins as Eredin, Lenny Henry as Balor, Huw Novelli as Callan, Lizzie Annis as Zacare, Amy Murray as Fenrik, Zach Wyatt as Syndril, Nathaniel Curtis as Brian and Dylan Moran as Uthrok.
The Witcher Blood Origin Cast Details
The Witcher: Blood Origin has a very impressive cast, with well-known actors like Michelle Yeoh playing the main roles. Jodie Turner-Smith was once chosen to play Éile, the main character, but she had to leave the show.
Here is the full cast list:
- Michelle Yeoh as Scian

How Many Seasons Will The Witcher: Blood Origin Have?
The new show is being called a “prequel miniseries” right now, which means that only one season is planned. It looks like Netflix wants the story to be told in a limited number of episodes. But if the show does really well and the writers think they have more story to tell, I’m sure Netflix would be open to keeping the show going or making a spin-off with the same characters.
The Witcher: Blood Origin Is Based On A Book?
Fans know that The Witcher is based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s well-known books. The books also led to a popular video game series from CD Projekt Red and a lot of other products, like comics, clothes, and more.
The main show is based on a specific book, but the prequel is not. However, there is a lot of history in The Witcher canon that the writers can use to tell this story. The Witcher: Blood Origin will take place 1200 years before Geralt of Rivia was born. It will show how the first Witcher was made, which was mostly kept secret even in the books.
