The first episode of The Idol gave us a clear picture of how stressful and draining a pop star’s life can be at times. This constant pressure consumes a person from the inside. The victim in this show is a young woman named Jocelyn. She is famous, wealthy, and universally adored, but constantly unhappy and anxious.
The title of the first episode of The Idol was Pop Tarts and Rat Tales. Sam Levinson directed, and Abel Tesfaye, Reza Fahim, and Sam Levinson wrote the screenplay. It originally aired on HBO on June 4, 2023. Let’s take a look at The Idol Episode 1 Recap
The Idol Episode 1 Recap
The episode began by focusing on Jocelyn, our young heartthrob. She was in the midst of a photo sho*t that was becoming increasingly provocative, despite not being instructed to do so. The audience was then informed that Jocelyn is a famous pop singer who recently lost her mother.

Her life was precarious because she had suffered a severe mental breakdown. In two weeks, she would release a new single, but her confidence was at an all-time low. It was then revealed that a s*xually explicit photograph of her had been leaked online a few hours earlier. Each of her representatives present at her residence panicked and pondered how to deliver the news.
How Did They Break The News To Jocelyn?
After her dance class, they gathered in the living room to share the news. She surprisingly handled it very well. In fact, it appeared as though she simply shrugged it off. Later that night, she went to a nightclub with her friends Dyanne and Leia (who was also her assistant) to dance and have fun. Here is where she met Tedros, the club’s charismatic owner.

Tedros Dance Party
Tedros invited her to dance with him, and it was almost instantaneous attraction. Jocelyn connected with him immediately, and their relationship quickly intensified, culminating in a kis$$ and a subsequent escape to another room. Even though they had a heart-to-heart, it was evident that Jocelyn was falling for him.
The following day, while watching television with Leia, she revealed to her friend that she had invited Tedros to her place. Leia disliked the shady nightclub owner, but Jocelyn reassured her not to be concerned. Tedros eventually made his grand entrance. Unwillingly, a disgusted Leia welcomed him.
He and Jocelyn drank and spent time together as well. Tedros seemed to have developed a strong interest in the pop star. She then invited him to hear the rough mix of her upcoming single. The two then entered a room that resembled a miniature recording studio.
She played the song, and although she didn’t like it, Tedros clearly did, and even assured her that it was good. The episode concluded with the two exchanging more words before becoming intimate.
