Kelly Clarkson is openly sharing details about her journey to lose weight. During a conversation with Whoopi Goldberg on Monday’s episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the 42-year-old singer discussed her use of weight loss medication during her recent physical transformation. Standing at around 5’3, Clarkson disclosed that she reached a weight of 203 pounds at her heaviest.

The topic arose when Clarkson praised Goldberg’s appearance, remarking that she looks younger. In response, the 68-year-old co-host of The View attributed her youthful appearance to her significant weight loss, humorously stating that she’s “lost almost two people.”

“I’m taking that great shot that’s helpful for people who need some assistance, and it’s been really beneficial for me,” Goldberg shared with Clarkson.

“I’m using a different one than what people might expect, but I had to start taking it because my bloodwork got so bad,” Clarkson responded.

“My doctor had been recommending it for two years, but I kept refusing because I was scared,” she admitted. “I already have thyroid issues, so I was hesitant. Everyone assumes it’s Ozempic, but it’s not. It’s something else that helps break down sugar. Clearly, my body doesn’t do it properly.”

Clarkson also shared a recent eye-opening experience when she watched footage of herself performing before her weight loss. She expressed being shocked by her physical appearance.

“I paused it and I was like, ‘Who the heck is that?'” she joked. “You look at it and you’re like, ‘She looks like she’s about to have a heart attack,'” Clarkson added.

“It’s pretty amazing though because it’s a strange thing,” she reflected. “I never noticed that. I never felt insecure about that… I was content. People might think, ‘Oh, she must not have been happy.’ But no, I was happy! I just didn’t realize it.”

Goldberg shared that she experienced a similar moment of realization after a critic speculated that she wore a fat suit in the 2023 film Till. “I was offended,” Goldberg recalled. “But then I saw it, and I thought, ‘Well, it really does seem like I’m wearing a fat suit.'”

Earlier this year, Clarkson disclosed on her show that she felt motivated to lose weight after receiving a pre-diabetic diagnosis.

As a mother of two, she admitted, “I wasn’t surprised” by the diagnosis, acknowledging, “I was slightly overweight.”

Clarkson revealed that her doctors cautioned her she was “on the edge,” but she confessed to delaying action for “two years” regarding her weight. However, as she approached a diabetes diagnosis, she resolved to make a change.

During this period, Clarkson found herself relocating to New York City after her split from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock in 2020. The former couple has two daughters together, River Rose, 9, and Remington “Remy” Alexander, 8.

Reflecting on the move in November 2023, Clarkson shared with ET, “We stroll around the park. We’re more active. This was my objective, for us to truly engage beyond our home. And that’s necessary in New York.”
