On July 8, a casting call for a new character for Heartstopper season 2 was issued. The creative team was looking for an actress to play the character Sahar Zahid. Sahar, a 16-year-old with British South Asian ancestry, is described. They are also in year 11 at Higgs Secondary School. The creative team appears to have found their Sahar, as an actor has been recruited in the position!

The trailer for Season 2 was released on Netflix on July 25, and it gives viewers a sneak peak into how Charlie and Nick are managing their new relationship, including the challenges that they face. A trip to Paris for school is certain to cause a significant upheaval for all of the couples that attend Truham. The month of August cannot arrive fast enough for me.

According to BBC News, the creator of the Heartstopper graphic novel, Alice Oseman, spoke about the second season at the Hay Festival. “The goal of Season 2 was to capture the joy and magic of Season 1 while also feeling like the characters had grown up and matured a little bit, so we’re exploring some things that are perhaps a little darker than Season 1.”

Isaac (Tobie Donovan), who does not appear in the novels but is a buddy of both Charlie and Nick in the series, appears to play a larger part in Season 2.
