Stephen was 15 years old and Ayesha was 14 years old when they met at the same church in Charlotte, North Carolina. Stephen’s sister wrote about how Ayesha made an impact on her brother early on in a book about his life called The Miraculous Rise of Steph Curry.
Hollywood Boulevard was the place where they went on their first date. Ayesha said, “We went to Madame Tussauds” when asked what they did together. “Listen, we were 18 and 19, so if that, like, clarifies anything. And we got chai tea lattes.”
Stephen’s behavior on their date impressed her, she later said, “He was so funny and silly. The absolute opposite of what I thought he was going to be.”
After meeting for a while, the high school sweethearts got married on June 30, 2011, at the Ballantyne Resort in North Carolina, in front of about 400 of their closest friends and family. The bride wore a dress without straps that had a full skirt and a flower design just below the waist.
