Adrian Schiller has passed away. He was well-known for his parts in the British historical dramas Victoria and The Last Kingdom. He was sixty years old.

In a statement provided to news outlets on April 4, the actor’s talent agency of over thirty years, Scott Marshall Partners, confirmed Schiller’s passing.

“It is with the heaviest and saddest hearts that we announce the death of our beloved client, Adrian Schiller, on Wednesday 3 April,” the statement said. “He has died far too soon, and we, his family and close friends are devastated by the loss. His death was sudden and unexpected and no further details around its cause are yet available.”

Additionally, his sister Ginny wrote, “Dear all. This is Ginny. I’m so sorry to let you all know that our beloved brother Adrian died suddenly at home yesterday. He had so many very dear friends – sorry to those of you who are learning about this here. We will say more about funeral and/or memorial plans in due course.”

Ginny said, “Taking things one step at a time,” and extending her support to Schiller’s son Gabriel and wife Milena as they try to “wrap their minds around the unimaginable.”

Schiller was born in London, England, on February 21, 1964. His thirty-year acting career began in 1992 with the release of Prime Suspect 2, starring Helen Mirren. He would carry on with his early television career, making appearances in TV movies like Terry Pratchett’s Going Postal and series like the BBC’s Doctor Who.

Schiller has occasionally acted in motion pictures, most notably in the critically praised films The Danish Girl (2015) and Beauty and the Beast (2017, Hollywood live-action version). But his most well-known performances were in BBC Two’s The Last Kingdom and ITV’s Victoria when he played Mr. Cornelius Penge, the royal family’s footman.
