Scott Pilgrim Takes Off will be available on Netflix on November 17, 2023. It has been nearly a decade since the film was released and the graphic novels ended. The number of episodes in the anime series has not yet been revealed, but as with Netflix, it is expected that all episodes will be released at once for streaming.
Plot Synopsis
Scott Pilgrim, a 23-year-old bass player for the band Sex Bob-Omb, falls in love with Ramona Flowers, a mystery girl who works as an Amazon.ca delivery lady, in Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.
To date her, he must first overcome her seven demonic exes who are out to kill him. Along the way, he must contend with his ex-girlfriend Envy Adams, bandmates Kim Pine and Stephen Stills, roommate Wallace Wells, sister Stacey Pilgrim, buddy Young Neil, and ex-girlfriend-turned-friend Knives Chau,
The six volumes of the graphic novels, which span from Scott’s first contact with Ramona to his ultimate fight with her last ex, Gideon Graves, will be adapted for the series. The Scott Pilgrim universe will also be expanded in the series, with new scenes, characters, and tales not seen in the original comics or film.

Production and Development
Bryan Lee O’Malley, the creator of the graphic novels, and BenDavid Grabinski, the writer and director of the film Happily, are working on the series. Abel Góngora, a Spanish animator who has worked on projects such as Castlevania, Blood of Zeus, and Seis Manos, directs the series.
The series’ animation is the work of Science SARU, a Japanese animation studio that Masaaki Yuasa and Eunyoung Choi founded and which has produced notable works like Devilman Crybaby, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, and Japan Sinks: 2020.
O’Malley, Grabinski, Góngora, Choi, Edgar Wright, who directed the live-action film, Michael Bacall, who co-wrote the film, and Marc Platt, Adam Siegel, Jared LeBoff, and Nira Park executive produce the series.
Joseph Trapanese, who has scored films such as Tron: Legacy, Oblivion, and The Greatest Showman, and Anamanaguchi, who composed the soundtrack for the video game Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game, composed the music for the series.
The series was first mentioned in January 2022, and it was formally announced in March 2023. The show will include ten episodes, each lasting 30 minutes. The series will premiere on Netflix on November 17, 2023, on the tenth anniversary of the completion of the graphic books.
