The Try Guys broke up with Ned Fulmer, one of the four original members, after he admitted to having a “consensual” affair at work.
The Try Guys said in a tweet on Tuesday that Ned Fulmer is no longer working with them. “After a careful internal review, we don’t see a way for us to move forward together. We’re grateful for your help as we deal with this change.”
In a post on Twitter made soon after the Try Guys’ announcement, Fulmer confirmed rumors that he had been having an affair with someone other than his wife.
“Family should have always been my top priority, but I lost sight of that and had a mutually agreeable relationship at work,” Fulmer wrote. “I’m sorry if my actions hurt the guys or the fans, but most of all I’m sorry if they hurt Ariel,” he said, referring to his wife.
Fulmer added, “Right now, my marriage and my children are the only things that matter, so that’s where I’m going to put my attention.”
Ariel Fulmer wrote on Instagram, “Thanks to everyone who has reached out to me—it means a lot. Nothing is more important to me and Ned than our family, and all we ask right now is that you respect our privacy for the sake of our kids.”
Before the Try Guys made their announcement, fans who posted in online forums had noticed that Fulmer hasn’t been in the group’s recent videos and that he was sometimes cut out of earlier ones.
Fulmer has left The Try Guys, leaving Keith Habersberger, Zach Kornfeld, and Eugene Lee Yang as the only members left. Before leaving BuzzFeed in June 2018 to start their own production company, 2nd Try, the group got their start at the digital media company. A request for more information from Try Guys was not answered by a representative.
The Try Guys are known for being willing to try almost anything. Their videos show them doing everything from trying out labor-pain simulators to trying out dog sledding in Alaska to parallel parking 18-wheeler trucks to getting nail extensions. The Try Guys YouTube channel has 7.8 million subscribers at the moment.
“Guys Try Ladies’ Underwear for the First Time” was one of their first videos for BuzzFeed. It went viral in 2014 and now has more than 22 million views. The group wrote the best-selling book “The Hidden Power of F*cking Up” and was featured in the documentary film “Behind the Try.”
The Try Guys also got a show on Food Network called “No-Recipe Road Trip With the Try Guys.” The show was made by Beyond Productions and will premiere in August 2022 on Food Network and Discovery+.
All four members of The Try Guys are in the show, in which they try to make signature dishes from restaurants all over the country without any recipes or other instructions. The Try Guy whose dish a local chef and a guest judge thinks is the best gets the chance to have it put on the restaurant’s menu.
