Drag Race stars have talked about how shocked they were when Cherry Valentine, who was in the second season, died.
The star, whose real name was George Ward, died on Sunday. He was 28 years old. Last year, Joe Black, who was on the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK with Ward, posted pictures of them on Twitter.
“I’m stunned and don’t know how to deal with the news,” Black said.
“Cherry died. I’ll always remember the times we spent together. A great artist and a great person. All of their friends, family, and anyone else who knew them to have my love.”
Ellie Diamond, who was also in the same show, sent out this tweet: “I’m shocked by the news that my dear sister Cherry has died.
“Love you sister! Xx.”
The show posted several photos on Twitter and said: “We are very sad to hear that Cherry has died.
“She was a kind person who made everyone she met laugh with her unique laugh. She gave #DragRaceUK style, verve, and charm, and we will miss her so much.”
The BBC said that when they heard the news, they were “devastated.”
Fiona Campbell, who is in charge of BBC Three, said, “We are all shocked and saddened to hear that George, who many people knew as Cherry Valentine, has died.
“He was a favorite among fans and an inspiration to many. It was a pleasure to work with him at BBC Three.”
