A 13-year-old Texas boy with terminal brain cancer is on a heartfelt mission to break a Guinness World Record by being sworn in by 1,000 law enforcement agencies across the country.
Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel, who has long dreamed of becoming a police officer, gained national attention when he was officially sworn in as a Secret Service agent by President Donald Trump during a joint session of Congress on March 4.
Nearing a Record-Breaking Goal
Daniel has already been inducted into 914 law enforcement agencies, putting him on the brink of achieving his ambitious goal. In addition to this feat, he holds multiple records, including receiving the most ceremonial keys to cities and having the highest number of official proclamation days in his honor.
His journey is all the more remarkable considering the prognosis he received in 2018, when doctors estimated he had less than five months to live following a brain cancer diagnosis. Years later, after multiple surgeries and participation in a medical research study, he continues to defy expectations.
“I use this opportunity to make the world a better place,” DJ’s father, Theodis Daniel, told FOX 13 Tampa Bay. “Our story has inspired so many people who might have given up. No matter what, you have to keep faith and stay positive.”

A Special Honor in Florida
Daniel’s latest swearing-in ceremony took place in Polk County, Florida, where Sheriff Grady Judd welcomed him into the department.
A packed room erupted in applause as the young boy took his honorary oath.
“When you turn 18, move to Florida and work for me,” Sheriff Judd told him. “And make sure you register to vote—I’ll be needing those votes by then!”
Without missing a beat, Daniel responded with a grin, “Just tell me what you want me to say, and I’ll say it.”
Continuing the Journey
The Daniel family has a busy schedule ahead, with plans to visit more law enforcement agencies in different states to continue his mission.
“I’ll keep going until my gas tank runs out,” Daniel said. “And that’s when God calls you home. During my 11th brain surgery, He told me I was one of His angels. By my 12th surgery, He gave me my wings—then took them back and said, ‘Not yet. You’ve still got more work to do.’”
Despite his battle with cancer, DJ remains determined to spread hope and inspiration, one swearing-in at a time.
