Former President Donald Trump released dramatic footage on Friday that he claims shows a U.S. military airstrike targeting Houthi militants in Yemen. The video, which appears to be taken from a drone, captures a powerful explosion during what Trump says was a meeting of terrorists preparing for an attack.
The footage shows a large group — around 70 individuals — gathered in a formation around one central figure in what appears to be a remote, desert location. Within seconds, a massive blast erupts, engulfing the area in fire and smoke. When the dust settles, a sizable crater is visible, along with dozens of motionless bodies scattered on the ground. Several vehicles can be seen nearby.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed the group had been assembling to plan an assault. “These Houthis gathered for instructions on an attack. Oops, there will be no attack by these Houthis!” he wrote. “They will never sink our ships again!”
The precise date of the strike is unknown, and neither U.S. Central Command nor the White House has issued a formal statement regarding the footage or the operation.

Earlier this week, Trump reaffirmed his administration’s tough stance on the Houthis, vowing to intensify military action until the Iran-backed group ceases its attacks on commercial vessels navigating the Red Sea. Houthi assaults in the area have disrupted international shipping routes since 2023, causing widespread concern over maritime security near the Suez Canal.
In a separate Truth Social post, Trump emphasized the impact of recent military operations: “The Iran-backed Houthi Terrorists have been decimated by the relentless strikes over the past two weeks. Many of their Fighters and Leaders are no longer with us,” he said. “We hit them every day and night — Harder and harder.”
He continued with a stark warning: “Our attacks will continue until they are no longer a threat to Freedom of Navigation. The choice for the Houthis is clear: Stop shooting at U.S. ships, and we will stop shooting at you. Otherwise, we have only just begun — the real pain is yet to come, for both the Houthis and their sponsors in Iran.”
The Houthis claim that since March 15, at least 58 people have died due to the U.S. military campaign. The figure has not been independently verified.
In an unusual twist, plans for the military action were reportedly leaked days before the strikes occurred, after National Security Adviser Mike Waltz accidentally included journalist Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic in a Signal chat with top officials.
Trump reclassified the Houthis as a Foreign Terrorist Organization in January, further escalating tensions between the U.S. and the militant group .
