Tesla made a notable appearance on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, where it was recognized as a leader in American robotics and manufacturing. The company’s humanoid robots took center stage at a bipartisan event celebrating U.S.-made robotics, drawing crowds eager to witness the cutting-edge technology in action.
Tesla’s Robots Impress Lawmakers and Attendees
Two Tesla humanoid robots were on display, striking various poses and engaging with onlookers. At times, they waved their arms, and in a moment reminiscent of former President Richard Nixon, they raised their hands with two fingers extended in a victory-like pose.
During the event, one of the robots inadvertently bumped into the rope barrier, briefly prompting a security guard to step in and adjust it. Despite the minor mishap, attendees—including lawmakers and tech enthusiasts—were captivated by the machines’ capabilities and potential applications.
Congressman John Moolenaar (R-MI), Chair of the House Select Committee on China, praised Tesla’s contribution to innovation and emphasized the importance of U.S. advancements in technology.
“The real competition is with China, and we are unified in ensuring America remains the global leader in technology,” Moolenaar stated. “Tesla and other companies here today are showcasing the ingenuity that drives our economy forward.”

In addition to Tesla’s robots, the event featured other groundbreaking robotic innovations, including “Spot,” an agile, dog-like robot developed by Boston Dynamics, and a similar machine created by Ghost Robotics.
Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) noted that Tesla’s humanoid robots could revolutionize industries such as agriculture, where labor shortages have challenged farmers.
“These robots could have incredible real-world applications,” Gimenez said. “Imagine robots performing precise farm work, reducing labor costs, and helping American farmers stay competitive. That’s the future.”
Tesla Targeted by Activists Over Elon Musk’s Government Ties
While Tesla was being applauded in Washington for its technological contributions, the company has faced growing backlash from progressive activists nationwide. In recent weeks, Tesla dealerships have become the target of vandalism, with critics singling out the company due to its CEO, Elon Musk, and his involvement in the Trump administration’s newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Some activists have accused Musk of using his influence to shape government policies, while others view Tesla’s advancements in automation as a threat to traditional labor industries.
Gimenez condemned the acts of vandalism, arguing that political disagreements should not escalate into destruction.
“It’s unfortunate that some people are taking their frustrations out on Tesla,” he said. “Innovation should be celebrated, not attacked. These advancements benefit the entire country.”
Government Response to Tesla Dealership Vandalism
In response to the rising incidents of vandalism, the Trump administration has signaled a crackdown on those targeting Tesla properties. President Donald Trump recently warned that protesters engaging in destruction could face severe legal consequences, while the FBI has launched a dedicated task force to investigate the attacks.
As Tesla continues to push the boundaries of robotics and AI, the company finds itself at the center of both praise and controversy. While lawmakers and tech leaders see its innovations as key to maintaining America’s competitive edge, activists remain divided over its impact on the workforce and its ties to political figures.
One thing is clear—Tesla’s role in shaping the future of robotics and automation is only just beginning .
