At least two people were killed and three more were injured in a shooting at a nightclub in Alabama. Shortly later, shots were fired at a vehicle arriving at a hospital emergency room, possibly targeting persons injured in the nightclub incident.

According to CNN station, the first gunshot occurred early Labor Day morning at a Birmingham nightclub on 5th Avenue North.

According to a University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital spokeswoman, the incident occurred at 2:17 a.m. on Monday morning when a car arrived at the emergency department with patients suspected to have been injured in an earlier off-site shooting.

Reports of shootings in the United States have become more prevalent among locals, and mass is an increasingly concerning problem in the country. Earlier, a 17-year-old teenager was shot dead by police after allegedly killing a police dog and pointing his rifle at officers.

During a news conference on Saturday, Clayton County Police Department Assistant Chief Bruce Parks identified the youngster as Stephon Ford. Parks stated that the incident occurred shortly before 2 a.m. near Jonesboro, Georgia, which is about 17 miles south of Atlanta.

On August 28, CNN reported that a faculty member at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill was shot dead on campus, and a suspect has been brought into custody, according to a school spokesman.

People were forced to seek refuge for several hours as police investigated. Shots were reportedly fired at the school’s Caudill Laboratories at 1:02 p.m. ET. Chancellor Kevin Guskiewicz confirmed the arrest of a suspect just after 2:30 p.m.
