24-year-old Lauren Nicole Filer pἀssed away on Sunday, December 11, 2016, in the presence of her loved ones at home. She was the daughter of Michele Pauline (Robertson) Filer and William Francis Filer, and she was born in Cumberland on October 8, 1992.
Her paternal grandfather William Alfred Filer and maternal grandfather, Charles L. Robertson, Jr., predeceased Lauren. The 2010 graduating class of Mountain Ridge High School included Lauren. She worked as a Pharmacy Technician at Rite Aid after earning degrees from Potomac State and West Virginia University.
She was impulsive, free-spirited, and followed her own path. She adored soccer and played it through college at Potomac State. In addition to her infectious grin and love of music, Lauren especially enjoyed going to the beach.

Surviving are her mother, Michele (Robertson) Filer and Todd; father, William F. Filer and Teresa; maternal grandmother, Gayle Kenney; paternal grandmother, Evelyn Frances Filer; siblings, Matthew Robertson, Mikayla Filer, William “Evenn” Filer, and Ellie Filer; uncle Chuck Robertson; aunts, Crystal Ogden Filer and Debbie Helmick Filer; special niece, Rose Filer; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; and best friends, Brodie Witt and family and Alex Yost.
All of her friends will miss her dearly. Your discomfort has subsided. My angel, fly high. The Durst Funeral Home in Frostburg, Maryland, 57 Frost Avenue, welcomed family and friends on Friday, December 16, 2016, from 11 am to 12 pm.
At 12 o’clock, funeral services were held right after. The family would like to express their gratitude to the WMHS Schwab Family Cἀncer Center, Dr. Zaman, and the top-level care staff.
