Drew Barrymore Has Come Out In Support Of Her Friend

Britney Spears is supported by Drew Barrymore.

The 47-year-old presenter of The Drew Barrymore Show celebrated the success of Spears’ new song “Hold Me Closer” with Elton John on Instagram on Saturday. The song is Spears’ first new composition since her 2016 studio album Glory and her 13-year conservatorship, which came to an end last year.

Barrymore smiles and reclines on her arm while listening to the music in a clip that shows her cuddled up on the couch in a comfy tee and no makeup. She nearly seems to shed happy tears.

“‘Hold Me Closer’ just came out, and it’s already number one in 33 nations!” Along with a heart emoji and tags for Spears and John, Barrymore captioned her video.

Actress Selma Blair also expressed her enthusiasm for the new song in the comments, stating “satisfies me the most. Beautiful.”

Spears cancelled her Instagram account, but she did talk about the new album on Twitter. In an earlier social media post from April, she had referred to Barrymore as one of the most “beautiful” stars she had ever met.

Spears was previously recognised by Barrymore after the pop star’s wedding in June, which she attended. Barrymore drew inspiration from her cherished 1998 movie Ever After to pay tribute to Spears and said how moved by the singer’s journey.

Along with a collection of images showing herself, Spears, and Selena Gomez enjoying themselves at the reception, Barrymore said, “What I learnt from Ever After is that we must rescue ourselves and yet still want the fairy tale.” “And Britney did precisely that! I’ve never been happier for someone’s brave path!!”

Barrymore told Variety in the previous month how much she identifies with Spears and how she hopes to invite her to appear on her talk show whenever she is released from the extremely contentious conservatorship.

Barrymore, who was institutionalized by her mother, Jade Barrymore, when she was a teenager, said, “We can have a special conversation.” There aren’t many of us left who have struggled to regain our freedom after publicly losing it, breaking down in front of everyone, or becoming jokes.

Barrymore has previously sent “personal videos” to Spears. She previously told ET that she did it to give Spears “encouragement and just telling her that I think she is the key to her freedom” before she was released from her conservatorship.
