The driver involved in the tragic crash that killed a mother and her two young daughters in Brooklyn has been identified as Miriam Yarimi, a 32-year-old wigmaker with a history of traffic violations and a past legal battle against the NYPD that resulted in a multi-million dollar settlement.
A Deadly Collision
Authorities say Yarimi was behind the wheel of an Audi with a suspended license on Saturday afternoon when she was involved in a collision with a Toyota Camry on Ocean Parkway in Gravesend. The impact sent her vehicle careening onto the sidewalk, striking and killing a mother and her two daughters, ages 8 and 6, as they left Shabbat services.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed the details of the devastating crash, though police have not yet announced any charges against Yarimi.
A Life of Luxury and a Troubled Past
Known online as “Ellie,” Yarimi is a professional wigmaker—a fact she flaunted with the vanity license plate on her Audi, which read “WIGM8KER.” On social media, she often showcased a glamorous lifestyle, posting photos of vacations, luxury cars, and nights out.

Just last summer, she shared images posing next to the Audi involved in the crash, highlighting both the car and her appearance. More recently, she posted a video featuring a yellow Porsche, boasting about her success.
“POV: A year ago I was completely broke, today I built my first Porsche 718 Boxster S,” she wrote in a caption, referring to a customized black-and-white model.
Despite her expensive tastes, Yarimi had a history of legal troubles. In June 2023, she filed a lawsuit against the NYPD, alleging that she was coerced into sex with a uniformed officer when she was just 14 years old. Court records show she won the case and received a $2 million settlement.
A History of Reckless Driving
Before the fatal crash, Yarimi had accumulated an alarming number of traffic violations. Records from the website “How’s My Driving” show that her Audi racked up more than 93 violations, including at least 20 speeding tickets. She had reportedly amassed over $10,000 in fines, with one recent ticket issued for speeding through a Brooklyn school zone on March 16.
A Tragic Parallel
Yarimi, herself a mother, frequently shared photos of her young daughter on Instagram. In a heartbreaking irony, the victims of Saturday’s crash were children close in age to her own.
As authorities continue their investigation, the community mourns the loss of a mother and two innocent children whose lives were cut short in a senseless tragedy .
