Lange first met Stevie Vann when the two were in the same elementary school in the early 1960s. They reconnected a few years later while attending Belfast High School and began dating after playing in the band Hocus together.
In the early 1970s, they married and went to the United Kingdom. Their marriage began to fail after a few years. While still married to Lange, Lange began seeing Oonagh O’Reilly, an Irish coworker. They divorced, and Lange dated O’Reilly for five years after that.
