Liam Neeson Early Life

Liam Neeson was born on June 7, 1952, in Ballymena, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, as Liam John Neeson. His mother, Katherine, worked in kitchens, and his father, Bernard, was a primary school caretaker.

Liam was raised in a Roman Catholic home with three sisters (Elizabeth, Bernadette, and Rosaleen) and began boxing lessons at the age of nine.

He boxed until he was 17 years old, winning several regional titles along the way. He first became interested in the role when he was just 11 years old when a drama teacher assigned him the lead role in a school play opposite the girl who had been his crush for several years at the time.

He continued acting throughout high school before attending Queen’s University Belfast for a short time to study physics and computer science. He eventually dropped out of college to work at Guinness Brewery.

In 1976, Liam joined Belfast’s Lyric Players’ Theatre and produced his film debut in 1978’s “Pilgrim’s Progress,” a Christian allegory.

Neeson also relocated to Dublin in 1978, where he appeared in plays at the Project Art Center and the Abbey Theatre. “Excalibur” (1980) was his first major role, and after the filming was completed, he relocated to London, where he appeared in the films “The Bounty” (1984) and “The Mission,” as well as the miniseries “Ellis Island” (1984) and “A Woman of Substance,” which aired on the BBC (1985).

Neeson was in a four-year relationship with Helen Mirren after meeting her during the shooting of 1981’s “Excalibur.” On July 3, 1994, Liam married Natasha Richardson, and the couple received two sons: Micheál (born in 1995) and Daniel (born in 1996). (born in 1996).

Unfortunately, Natasha died in 2009 from an epidural hematoma sustained during a skiing accident; Liam donated her organs, and Micheál changed his surname to Richardson in memory of his mother.
