You’d think that by the year 2022, people would have stopped talking about the weight of other people. Sad to say, not everyone seems to have gotten the message because Selena Gomez recently had to call out trolls who were “bitching” about her body.
The singer/actor got real on her TikTok about how comments about her weight have made her feel bad about herself. So, she told her fans, “I’ve been trying to stay thin, but I went to Jack in the Box and ate four tacos, three egg rolls, onion rings, and a spicy chicken sandwich.”
Next, the 29-year-old said: “But I really don’t care about my weight because people always complain about it. “You’re too small,” “You’re too big,” and “That doesn’t fit.” Meh meh meh meh. I’m fine the way I am, you jerk.”
Selena has been criticized for her looks before, and she says that it’s something she’s had to deal with since the beginning of her career. “There is a lot of pressure that comes with being famous at such a young age,” she told Glamour UK earlier this year.
The Only Murders In The Building star continued, “It’s hard to feel comfortable when you think everyone is watching, judging, and talking about how you look.” “Self-confidence is still something I work on every day, but my whole outlook changed when I stopped trying to meet society’s unrealistic standards of beauty.”
When asked what she thinks about the beauty standards women try to meet, Selena said: “I’ve always felt like I had to be perfect or look a certain way, ever since I can remember. It took me a long time to realize that I only wanted to be myself and that what made me different was also what made me beautiful.”
The 29-year-old said on Good Morning America that staying away from social media has helped her feel better about herself. Selena said, “I did what I needed to do to kind of get away from that.” “I was sick and tired of reading bad news… After making that choice, they were free right away.”
