Nintendo Switch 2 Will Be Revealed Before April 2025

The announcement for Nintendo Switch 2 was made after Nintendo revealed its fiscal year-end financial figures on March 31. Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa stated in a post on X that the company will release the Switch’s replacement during the upcoming fiscal year, which ends at the end of March 2025.

Nintendo did not disclose any further information about the console, not even if the Switch name will still appear on it. The rest of Furukawa’s post, which mentioned that nine years had passed since the original Switch was first revealed in March 2015 and released two years later, was the only indication of a timetable.

The upcoming Nintendo Direct product expo, which is slated for June and will feature some games that will be available for the Switch in the second half of 2024, will not provide any more information, Furukawa added.

The fiscal profits report, which nevertheless depicted the Switch in its final stages, contained no information about the new console either. The report stated that “sales are steady for a platform in its eighth year after launch,” despite a 12.6% decline in hardware sales over the prior year, which nevertheless translated into 15.7 million units sold.

It’s also interesting to note that the Super Mario Bros. Movie’s popularity was a major factor in the 81.6% rise that the business associated with Nintendo’s intellectual property enjoyed. This appears to be a potential growth area for Nintendo, as the company announced back in November that a live-action Legend of Zelda film is in development.
