Long-distance relationships can feel like a never-ending serious business. That’s why I’ve compiled this list of online games for long-distance couples… to keep you entertained and to make you feel like a “normal” couple for a change!
You probably need a break from the serious side of your relationship and long to reconnect with the casual, fun moments you’d have if you were together in person.
Apabila and I have been in a 4,000-mile long-distance relationship between the U.s. and the United Kingdom for just over three years, and we’ve definitely found some favorite long-distance relationship games along the way. Here are 15+ of our personal favorites.

15+ Best Game To Play With Girlfriend Online
1. PUBG Mobile (PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS)
Join forces with a friend to play PUBG Mobile (PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS)! Frank and I spend a lot of time together playing this game! Solo, pair, and team modes of play are available. It is accessible for both Android and iOS devices.
2. SETTLERS OF CATAN
Settlers of Catan is a very popular strategy game that has achieved a high amount of popularity in recent years, particularly in the United States. A board game that may be played in person, but they have also recently released a virtual version of it! This program is available for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android devices, among other platforms.
3. Miniclip
Miniclip features a variety of multiplayer games to choose from. All of these games may be played on a computer, while several are also available on mobile devices through the App Store or Google Play.
4. Pogo.com
One of our favorite sites for multiplayer games is Pogo.com. Pogo has been around for a while, and when we were dating long distances and couldn’t think of anything to do, we would always find a game to play on Pogo. Because not all of their games are multiplayer, we’ve listed some of the multiplayer games available on Pogo in each of their game categories.
Pogo.com offers a variety of multiplayer games, including:
- Scrabble and Boggle Bash are two popular word games.
- Spades, cribbage, and hearts are examples of card games.
- Scrabble, Dominoes, Monopoly, Risk, Yahtzee Party, Chess, Cribbage, Battleship, and Checkers are some of the most popular board games.
- Bingo Luau, Everyone Wins Bingo, Texas Hold’em, Poker, and Keno are just a few of the games available at the freebie casino.
- Pogo Bowl is a type of sport.
- PoppaZoppa is a puzzle game developed by PoppaZoppa.
5. ONLINE CHESS
I don’t want to sound overly stereotypical, but Apabila and I became very interested in chess after seeing The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix last summer. (One of our favorite long-distance dates involves watching two shows at the same time and texting throughout.)
Fortunately, there is free chess software that, in our opinion, is one of the best (and easiest) online games for long-distance couples to participate in. You can play chess over a period of several days, or you can make a Zoom or Facetime conversation and play a game of chess at the same time as you talk on the phone. We do a little bit of everything!
6. MSN Games
Games on MSN offer a wide range of classic multiplayer games, including card games, board games, and casino games.
7. THE ULTIMATE GAME
We recently bought The Ultimate Game for Couples card set, which has quickly become one of our favorite long-distance relationship games!
This is one of those “in-between” games that require a physical deck of cards but can be played online using Zoom or Facetime. Only one of you needs the card set; you do not need to buy two sets. When it’s your turn, simply show the card’s face to the camera. Simple as that!
The Ultimate Couples Game is chock-full of deep (and hilarious) questions for your partner. Dare cards are mixed in with the question cards. Some are ridiculous, while others are a little saucy. Not everything can be done from afar, but many cans!
8. Lexulous
This is a Scrabble-style game that you can play live or via email (the email option is great if your schedules are tight or you live in different time zones and can’t be online at the same time!).
9. TABLE TOPICS
Table Topics (I recommend the Date Night Version) is a set of cards with questions for your partner, similar to the Ultimate Game for Couples. It will require one of you to own the card set, but it can then be easily played online via video chatting. If you only want questions and no slightly raunchy dares, this is a good option.
10. KITTENS EXPLODING
Exploding Kittens is a fun card game that can be played with two people! We discovered this in a hotel in London, and it has since become one of our favorite games. However, playing with physical cards from a long distance is not possible.
Fortunately, Exploding Kittens has created an app that allows you to continue playing online! The app costs $1.99, and you can play together by adding each other as friends.
11. CLASH OF CLANS
I’ll warn you now that Clash of Clans can be a little addictive. It is a free multiplayer game available as an app in which you can join a “clan,” build your village and attack other villages to increase the power of your clan.
Dan and I played this for a year straight, and I don’t even want to think about how many hours of my life I wasted because of it, haha. It is, however, a very entertaining and engaging game. You can play when you’re apart, build a strategy together (we’d call and he’d coach me when I was attacking villages… yes, I’m a nerd), and it gives you something fun to talk about other than the mundane daily stuff that can get old pretty quickly in any long-distance relationship!
12. JACKBOX GAMES
Jackbox Games has a collection of over 30 multiplayer games, all of which are designed to be played online from your own device. I’ve played these at a live party (where everyone is using their own phone), as well as remotely over Zoom and everyone is in their own state/country.
Many Jackbox games are more enjoyable in a larger group, so this is the best online game on this list for incorporating your other family and friends (one of my top tips for maintaining a long-distance relationship!). Drawful 2 and Quiplash are two of my favorites. There are, however, some two-player games. Here is a list of Jackbox Games organized by player count so you can find the best game for you.
13. BANANAGRAMS
My favorite game is Bananagrams. If you’re unfamiliar, it’s a word game similar to scrabble in which you use tiles to create your own crossword puzzle. Bananagrams is an excellent game for long-distance couples because it is simple to play via Zoom or Facetime. You’ll each need your own Bananagrams set, so start with 21 tiles each, pick up tiles at the same time and play until one of you wins!
There is also a rudimentary website where you can play Bananagrams online (desktop only), but I think the physical version + video chatting is easier and more fun!
14. DO YOU KNOW ME APP
Do You Know Me is a free app that can be downloaded? Basically, the app includes questions to help you get to know your partner better… or to test how well you already know them. Because the app is so basic, you’ll have to Facetime or Zoom and play from one person’s phone.
15. ONLINE CARDS
In a long-distance relationship, playing a simple game of cards is easier this way. Apabila and I enjoy playing cards, but doing so from a distance is nearly impossible with two separate decks of cards.
Fortunately, I discovered Deck of Cards, a website that allows you to play cards online as if you were sharing a deck! Simply select “multiplayer” and send your game link to your partner.
16. TRUTH OR DARE
A classic game is a truth or dare. Of course, it’s more difficult for long-distance couples to play because you’re not physically together. There are, however, a few workarounds. This is an excellent website for playing truth or dare online. Join a Zoom call and have one person share their screen, and the website will automatically provide you with truths…or dares.
This is a good option if you want to play a truth or dare game designed specifically for couples. One of you will need to buy the cards before you can play via video chat.
