Nintendo Direct June 2023
Nintendo Direct June 2023
It’s difficult to believe, but Nintendo has games planned for 2023 other than The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. On Wednesday, the publisher revealed its upcoming Switch lineup in a 40-minute Nintendo Direct. Nintendo had much to say about their 2023 Switch roster, from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC to announcing a brand-new Super Mario Bros. title – and a new Princess Peach game.
Nintendo provided no information on Hollow Knight: Silksong, Metroid Prime 4, or Tears of the Kingdom post-release material. Nonetheless, it was a jam-packed demonstration, with everything from a new Mario platformer to a remake of a classic Mario RPG. Here are all the major announcements and disclosures from Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct.

POKÉMON SCARLET AND VIOLET DLC

The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is divided into two parts. The first instalment, The Teal Mask, will be released in the fall of 2023 and include five new Pokémon (just short of an entire party). The Indigo Disk, the second instalment, will be released in winter 2023. It takes place in a terrarium in the middle of the sea.

SONIC SUPERSTARS

Sonic Superstars, first revealed at Summer Game Fest, is a 2D Sonic game with modern 3D graphics. You can take on the roles of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, or Amy. It will be released in the fall of 2023.

PIKMIN 4 AND CLASSIC PIKMIN RE-RELEASES

Olimar, perhaps best known as the most annoying Super Smash Bros. character to face, returns in Pikmin 4, although not as the protagonist. He’s stuck in Pikmin 4, and you must rescue him. Pikmin 4, first revealed in 2015, will be released on July 21. It’s the first game in the series that allows you to customize your character and go out at night. On June 28, a demo of Pikmin 4 will be available.

Can you believe that Recently, Nintendo introduced a shiny new OLED for the Switch? The gorgeous new Switch OLED, themed after Splatoon 3, comes with Joy-Cons covered in gradient colours and paint splats. Hit the link below for further information…

In addition, as it did with Pikmin 3 in 2020, Nintendo will release HD versions of Pikmin and Pikmin 2. The original Pikmin on Nintendo Switch is now available.

Detective Pikachu Returns

Detective Pikachu Returns stars Tim and a talking Pikachu as the sequel to the 2016 Nintendo 3DS game (which spawned a 2019 film starring Ryan Reynolds). Detective Pikachu Returns will be available on the Nintendo Switch on October 6th.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder

Did someone mention “Wonder?” Mario returns with a new platformer after trampling the box office. Though the 2D platformer is technically titled Super Mario Bros. Wonder, based on the visuals alone (from rockets popping out of nowhere to bendy warp pipes to… Mario as an elephant? ), this hallucination might just as quickly be labelled Super Mario Fever Dream. It will be released on October 20th.
