Abigail Simon, who was 43 at the time, had been in prison since January 2015. On Tuesday, she was let go.
Officials from the Michigan Department of Corrections said Tuesday that a former Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School academic advisor who was found guilty of sexual crimes against a student has been let out of prison.
Abigail Simon, who is now 43 years old, was found guilty of three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a 15-year-old student in 2014. She could have been in jail for up to 25 years, but on Tuesday, she got out as soon as possible.
The 11-day trial was talked about all over the country. Simon said that she was scared of the boy and argued that the sex was not her choice.
Simon was found guilty of having sex with a 15-year-old sophomore girl who worked as an academic advisor at Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School.
She must live under the supervision of a computer for the rest of her life, according to a portion of her sentence.
