George Michael was a singer, songwriter, producer, and giver from England. In the 1980s, as one half of the popular duo Wham!, he became a household name with hits like “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go,” “Last Christmas,” and “Careless Whisper.”
Then Michael started his solo career, putting out singles like “faith,” “praying for time,” and “Freedom ’90.” He sold more than a million records over the course of his 35-year career, which makes him one of the best-selling artists in music history.

How Did George Michael Die? What Was The Cause Of Death?
On Christmas Day 2016, George Michael’s boyfriend, Fadi Fawaz, found him dead in bed at his home in Oxfordshire.
The autopsy and investigation into Michael’s sudden death took a few months to finish. In March 2017, the Oxfordshire Senior Coroner said that George Michael’s death was caused by dilated cardiomyopathy (a condition in which the heart gets too big and can’t pump blood well) and inflammation of the heart.
Michael also had a fatty liver, which could have been caused by many things, like drinking too much or using drugs, which was something the singer had struggled with in the past. Reports say that his last photos were taken a few months before he died. In them, he looked “tired” and “bloated.”
When Was George Michael’s Funeral?
The funeral plans for George had to be put on hold while the coroner waited for the results of toxicology tests. Because of this, George’s funeral didn’t happen until three months after he died.
On March 29, 2017, a service was held at Highgate West Cemetery in the small chapel with 30 seats. Family and close friends were there. The service took place with tight security, and black tarps were put over the iron gates of the cemetery.
No horse was seen getting onto the property. It is thought that a private ambulance brought the singer’s body to the hospital. Guests went to a wake at George’s house in Hampstead, which is less than a mile from the cemetery, after the service.
