PERRY COUNTY, Ohio — Amber Alerts were issued for two Perry County children on Friday morning, 16 June 2023,  but they were later found to be safe, according to authorities.

At 1:53 a.m., the Perry County Sheriff’s Office got a call that Nicholas Hill, 29, had taken his two children, Hendrix Hill, 6, and Everly Hill, 4, from their home on North Main Street in the Village of Thornville.

The sheriff’s office said Nicholas also took a gun and said he would hurt himself.

At 4:35 a.m., officers from the Perry County Sheriff’s Office and the Licking County Sheriff’s Office went to the house and sent out an AMBER Alert.

Nicholas called the Perry County Sheriff’s Office at 5:09 a.m. to let them know he was in Newark.

When the Licking County police got to Newark, they saw that Nicholas and the kids were fine. The kids went back home to their mother.

Nicholas was caught and put in jail. Formal charges are still being worked out about what happened.

“The Perry County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank The Licking County Sheriff’s Office, The Thornville Police Department, The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Verizon Wireless, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) and The Ohio Attorney General’s Office Child Abduction Response Team for their assistance in bringing this situation to a safe conclusion,” Perry County Sheriff William Barker said.
