About the Founders Pizza Cupcakes

Andrea Meggiato is an Italian cook who works for a living. He began cooking when he was 16 and got a job at an Italian restaurant in London. After a few years, Andrea chose to go to New York, United States, to show off his cooking skills.

Michelle Jimenez comes from a family in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, that moved there from the Philippines. She went to college in New York City after she finished high school. There, she learned how to sell on social media and became an expert in the field.

Meggiato worked in the gold business for Faraone Mennella while not cooking in restaurants. But his love of pizza led him to his future wife. He asked Michelle out for pizza in 2015, and she said yes.

Starting the Company

Andrea had the idea to change how pizza was made by making it in the shape of a cupcake. He liked the idea so much that he quit his regular job and started the family business in 2018.

After many failed tries, the perfect Pizza Cupcake recipe was found, and it went popular on Instagram. Later, the owners opened a store near Smorgasburg and Citi Field.

Due to the pandemic, they had to close their stores in 2020 and sell their goods straight to people online. Even though they had a failure, Michelle’s knowledge of e-commerce helped them still make $344,000 in sales. The couple also put more effort into making frozen foods.

Shark Tank Appearance

Even though their new business was making steady money, Michelle and Andrea thought they needed more money to grow it. In 2021, on season 12 of the show “Shark Tank,” the business people went into the Tank. The two people asked for $125,000 for 5% of their business. This was a fair price compared to other goods pitched on the show.

When the Sharks tried such a unique treat, they became more interested in the business. Kevin O’Leary and Mark Cuban thought the frozen food business was tricky, so they didn’t join it.

Robert Herjavec and Daymond John said they were interested in the cupcake business. Lori Greiner was the most curious but wanted a lot of stock. The business owners agreed to her final offer of $125,000 for a 12.5% stake in the company and 2.5% advice shares.

Pizza Cupcakes After Shark Tank

Michelle and Andrea’s business earned $300,000 from online sales shortly after their episode. After about ten months, the sales reached a massive $3.1 million.

The Pizza Cupcake went on sale for the first time when it was put on the shelves of 100 Wegmans stores on the East Coast. In stores, you can only get the pepperoni flavor, and you can only get the Margherita taste on ThePizzaCupcake.com.

Since the limits put in place because of the pandemic have been eased, business is better than ever. Its annual sales went up to $5 million, and it is believed that the company is worth $2.5 million.

Pizza Cupcake featured on Shark Tank.

Andrea Meggiato and his wife, Michelle Jimenez-Meggiato, went to Shark Tank to find a Shark who would invest $125,000 in their company Pizza Cupcake in exchange for 5% of the business.

Sharks Robert Herjavec, Kevin O’Leary, Mark Cuban, Lori Greiner, and Daymond John all loved the Pizza Cupcake samples the couple brought.

Chef Andrea Meggiato said that the base doesn’t have butter and is made with hybrid dough. Even though it is a frozen product, this gives the crust a great texture.

Customers like the Pizza Cupcake, just like the Sharks do.

The owners say it costs $0.95 to make each Pizza Cupcake because everything is made by hand in their professional kitchen, which Andrea says is true. A box of 12 Pizza Cupcakes costs $24.99 at stores.

Where’s The Pizza Cupcake now?

Pizza Cupcake is now in over 2,000 Walmart stores, 500 Whole Foods stores, and over 1,000 other big box shops.

Pizza Cupcake Reviews

Since it was on Shark Tank, The Pizza Cupcake has gotten mostly good reviews. “Love these,” says one user. Since I saw them on “Shark Tank,” I’ve wanted to try them. You should try these, and you can get them quickly at Walmart.’

The review from someone else: I love the pizza cupcake so much! When I go to Citi Field, I always get one. It’s my favorite part of the game!

Pizza Cupcake in Starbucks

Lori from Shark Tank is pulling some strings to get Pizza Cupcakes in all Starbucks in the US. But this isn’t an easy job. Shelf space at Starbucks is worth a lot of money, and Pizza Cupcakes still don’t have that “premium” quality that can pull in big profits.
