Due to mutations during his training as a sorcerer, Geralt of Rivia cannot father children. The mutations led to sterilization in the Witcher. And the sorceress Yennefer von Vengerberg has the same fate. She has become sterile because of magic. This is the price all sorcerers have to pay to attain superhuman powers. However, the sterility of the two repeatedly led to severe arguments between them because Yennefer continuously tries to use magic to undo her sterility. But in vain, Geralt takes Ciri in, adopts the young girl, and loves her as if she were his daughter. And Yennefer also immediately takes her to heart.
