‘Cheers’ Stars Ted Danson, Tribute To Kirstie Alley After Her Death

Ted Danson and other “Cheers” stars are thinking about their co-star Kirstie Alley after she died on Monday.

“I did something I don’t usually do today while I was on a plane. “I watched an old episode of ‘Cheers,'” said Danson, who played Sam Malone in the popular TV show.

“It was the episode where Tom Berenger proposes to Kirstie, but she keeps saying no even though she really wants to say yes.”

Danson then raved about the late actress, calling her “truly brilliant” and saying that her ability to play Rebecca Howe was “both moving and hilarious.”

“When I got off the plane, I heard that Kirstie had died,” Danson, who is 74, said.

“I’m so sad and thankful that she made me laugh so many times. I send her children my love. As they know very well, their mother had a golden heart. I Will Miss Her.”

Kirstie Alley died at age 71 following a short battle with cancer.

Kelsey Grammer, who played Dr. Frasier Crane on “Cheers,” also thought of Alley.

“I’ve always thought that grief for a public figure is a private matter, but I will say that I loved her,” the 67-year-old actor said in a statement.

Rhea Perlman also said that her late co-star was a “unique and wonderful person and friend.”

The 74-year-old actress who played Carla Tortelli in the sitcom told The Outlet that “her joy of being was limitless.” “When she joined the cast, we became friends almost right away.”

Alley earned a Golden Globe and an Emmy for her portrayal of Rebecca Howe on “Cheers.”

Perlman said that her kids “loved” Alley and that their family would spend the night at the home of the “Veronica’s Closet” actress.
