Is Tanner Lynn Arrest: Suspect In Kidnapping, Killing Of Texas 7-year-old Athena Strand?

Two days after she was reported missing, a 7-year-old girl from Texas was found dead, and a FedEx delivery driver was arrested in connection with her death, according to authorities.

Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin stated that the body of Athena Strand was discovered on Friday and that Tanner Lynn Horner, 31, was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and murder after confessing to killing the girl and telling authorities where to find her body.

Saturday, Horner remained incarcerated on a $1.5 million bond. Inmate Records Did Not List an Attorney Who Could Represent Him.

Akin stated during a late Friday news conference that a tip led authorities to Horner, who, according to the sheriff, had delivered a package to the girl’s residence shortly before her disappearance.

According To Akin, Horner did not know the girl’s family. Akin declined to discuss the crime’s motive.

Horner, Akin stated, “We Really Can’t Discuss The Content Of The Confession, But I Will Say That We Have One.”

Wednesday, the girl’s stepmother reported her missing from the family residence near Paradise, northwest of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.


Akin stated that her body was discovered near the town of Boyd, approximately six miles southeast of Paradise, a town of approximately 475 people.

FedEx cooperated with investigators, according to James Dwyer, acting special agent in charge of the Dallas Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

FedEx stated in a statement that it is collaborating with investigating law enforcement agencies.

“During this most difficult time, our thoughts are with Athena Strand’s family,” the statement said. “Words Cannot Express Our Shock And Grief Regarding This Tragedy.”
