The Pixel 6a Spec Leak Indicates That Google Is Back On Track:
According to the leaked specifications, the Google Pixel 6a would be powered by Google’s own Tensor processor. This is the same chipset that is used in the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The Pixel 6a model features a hybrid architecture with three core clusters, each with a variable clock speed. This contains two Arm Cortex-A76 cores running at 2.25GHz, two Arm Cortex-X1 cores running at 2.80GHz, and four lower-speed cores running at 1.80GHz.
Using the same processor as the flagship models would be a first for the Google Pixel “A” series, providing the considerably more cheap Pixel access to Google’s most advanced features. The test also indicates that the phone will most likely have 6GB of RAM and would run Android 12 out of the box. Previous rumors indicate that the new Pixel 6a would be smaller than the flagship model, featuring a 6.2-inch OLED display. In order to save money, the back panel may also be built of less expensive material.
Similarly, there have been no leaks on the new smartphone’s pricing, but if history is any guide, it may provide the finest mix of cost and performance of the three Pixel 6 phones.
According to the rumors, the Pixel 6a would have a 4,800 mAh battery with 30W charging. That’s a minor capacity boost over the Pixel 5a’s 4,680 mAh cell, but a significant improvement over the Pixel 5a’s 18W charging speed.
The one possible concern here is that the Pixel 6 series does not come with chargers. It wouldn’t surprise us if the Pixel 6a didn’t come with one as well.
Google Pixel 6a Expected Release Date
According to the first major Pixel 6a release date speculation, the phone would be available in May 2022. Max Jambor, a well-known leaker of smartphone secrets, has stated that the release date is set for May.
The Google Pixel 5a was announced in August 2021, and the Pixel 4a followed suit in August 2020. That indicates Google will push back its debut date to early in the year, and it will most likely dodge the next Google Pixel 7, which we estimate to arrive at the end of 2022.
The design and display of the Google Pixel 6a
Photos of a rumored Google Pixel 6a dummy unit reveal how the next low-cost Google phone might be designed to look like the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The elimination of the 3.5mm audio connector, as well as the use of a camera bar rather than a module, appears to be the most notable feature.
It’s unknown how genuine these photographs are. However, past Pixel ‘a’ series phones have maintained the design language established by the flagship Pixels. This was bolstered by Google Pixel 6a renderings that were apparently based on the allegedly leaked information.
While contentious, the Pixel 6’s design is undeniably unique, so seeing it carried over to the Pixel 6a would not be a terrible thing.
The Pixel 6a’s screen, according to large specifications leak shared by Shadow leak, will be 6.2-inch, 60Hz. That’s a touch smaller than the Pixel 5a’s 6.4-inch display, but the purported refresh rate is far worse. Many phones now use 90Hz, 120Hz, or even higher refresh rates, even in the Pixel a-series price bracket. Google already uses a 90Hz display on the standard Pixel 6, so leaving the Pixel 6a at 60Hz looks unusual in that regard as well.
Colors will be available in black, white, and green, according to a leak from a US carrier database. That’s an upgrade over the Pixel 5a, which was only available in black.
Price and availability of the Google Pixel 6a
The Pixel ‘a’ series’ affordability has always been its defining feature. Despite having stronger features, last year’s Google Pixel 5a cost less — $449 vs. $499 — than 2020’s Pixel 4a 5G. With the Pixel 6 series beginning at $599, Google should price the 6a between $449 and $499. The Pixel 6a might be an outstanding mid-range product at that price point thanks to the Tensor processor and other annual enhancements.
Because Pixel phones have a narrow market appeal, Google does not often launch them internationally. Instead, they are exclusively available in a few markets. The Pixel 6 series is only accessible in a few countries, and the Pixel 6a will most certainly be offered in a restricted number of countries as well.
