_iPhone 14 A15 chip

Last Updated 2 weeks Ago

Despite using the same A15 Bionic chip as the iPhone 13, the regular iPhone 14 models will still perform better than the iPhone 13, claims leaker “ShrimpApplePro.”

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple analyst, only the iPhone 14 Pro models will have the A16 processor, while the ordinary iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max models will have the A15 processor, just like the iPhone 13 models. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman concurred in an April edition of his newsletter that regular iPhone 14 models are “expected to stick on the A15 from last year or a variant of it.” Other sources, including the Taiwanese research firm TrendForce, have since confirmed the rumor.

This is different from Apple’s current practice, which involves giving the latest iPhones all the same chip. For instance, the A15 processor is present in the iPhone 13 small, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The non-Pro iPhone 14 models will nonetheless “have an overall performance improvement over the iPhone 13 series,” according to ShrimpApplePro in a tweet, despite keeping “some old hardware.” According to reports, this is caused by, among other things, a new internal architecture and cellular modem.

More memory may be one of these enhancements, as all iPhone 14 models are anticipated to have 6GB of memory, which is 2GB more than the iPhone 13. The new, more effective modem for the iPhone 14 is anticipated to be physically smaller, consume less energy, and provide a high level of performance. The assertion made by ShrimpApplePro that the iPhone 14 will still deliver performance upgrades, therefore, seems plausible.

As Gurman noted earlier this year, persistent chip shortages may have influenced Apple’s choice to save its forthcoming technology for the iPhone 14 Pro versions “beyond trying to make the Pro stand out.”
