What exactly is TikTok?

TikTok is a social media platform for short video creation, sharing, and discovery. Young people use the app to express themselves through singing, dancing, comedy, and lip-syncing, and it allows users to create videos and share them with others.

What is TikTok’s new Photo Mode?

In a blog post published on Thursday, October 6, 2022, TikTok announced a new “Photo Mode.” The new mode allows users to include multiple photos in a TikTok post, along with a caption of up to 2,200 characters and music.

“For when you’d rather express yourself in formats other than video, we released Photo Mode, a new carousel format available on mobile for photo content that’s ideal for sharing high-quality images on TikTok,” TikTok explained.

Your followers can view the slideshows or carousels you post in Photo Mode at their leisure by swiping the images. The posts are also featured in the “For You” section, along with short videos.

How does TikTok’s Photo Mode function?

TikTok’s Photo Mode operates in much the same way that Instagram did previously. Instagram, which is now owned by Meta, began as a photo-only platform where users could only share photos before introducing Reels to compete with TikTok.

In an unexpected turn of events, TikTok has now introduced an Instagram-inspired feature that allows users to share images in a carousel. TikTok has primarily been a video-focused platform, but this new mode will change that.

TikTok users are already using Photo Mode to share slideshows from various domains such as artwork, fashion, photography, stories, and more. There’s also the option to add music, which makes the feature even more useful.

How to Use TikTok’s Photo Mode to Share Images

If you’ve been sharing photos on social media for a while, you’ll be familiar with the new Photo Mode. To use the new feature, make sure you’re using the most recent version of the TikTok app.
When you’re ready, open the TikTok app and tap the “+” icon to make a new post. Select the photos you want to upload from your camera roll/gallery. TikTok will then present you with the option to “Switch to Photo Mode.” Choose it.

The images will then be turned into a carousel post. You can use the available tools to edit the images, apply filters or stickers, and add sound. Finally, you can share the slideshow, which will be accessible to your followers as well as other TikTok users (if you have a public account).

Is TikTok’s Photo Mode accessible to everyone?

On Thursday, TikTok began rolling out Photo Mode to users in the United States and other regions around the world. For the time being, it is only available on the TikTok apps for Android and iOS. It is not yet available on the website. However, the FYP posts remain on the website.
Don’t worry if the Photo Mode isn’t available on your device just yet. Check the Play Store or App Store to see if TikTok has received an update. If an update is not yet available, uninstall the app from your device.

Now, turn off your device and then back on after a few seconds. After that, go to the store and download TikTok. You can now use the new photo-focused mode.

TikTok hasn’t been shy about introducing new features this quarter. TikTok Now, which was inspired by the BeReal app, was recently launched. The platform has also added a more powerful set of editing tools, as well as an increased caption limit.
