Twitter Is Adding A New Safety Feature Called Unmention To The Whole Site.

This week, Twitter introduced a new safety feature that would allow users to “unmention,” or remove themselves from harmful chats.

It offers users an opportunity to leave a harmful chat and is marketed as a tool to “defend your peace.”

Beginning in April, the new feature was tested on desktops for a small group of users before being made available to all users on Monday. To “unmention” oneself from a tweet, a user only needs to click the three dots, followed by the words “Leave this conversation.”

It’s one of many security measures the social media site has put in place recently, along with a new tool asking users to check for tweets with offensive language, a changed privacy policy, and a crisis misinformation policy to stop the spread of false information.

The launch of the new features coincides with Twitter’s lawyers fighting an effort to overturn Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, who paid $44 billion for the site and promised to make a number of changes.
