The Veteran “Newhart” Television Producer Has Died.

In 1997, while working for Mary Tyler Moore Enterprises, Stephen C. Grossman produced television series such as “The Betty White Show,” “Mary,” and “The Mary Tyler Moore Comedy Hour.” Later, in 1990, he left the company.

After leaving Mary Tyler Moore Enterprises, Grossman worked for a variety of production companies, including Warner Bros., Paramount Television, Disney, and others. One of his most notable projects, however, was his eight years as a coordinating producer on the CBS sitcom “Newhart” in the 1980s.

Grossman began his career as an actor, playing understudy roles on Broadway before becoming a producer. He also stage-managed at the Circle in the Square Theatre and worked with director Gil Cates.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the veteran producer died on Thursday at the age of 76 in his home from coronavirus complications. Joan, his wife, announced his death.

He is survived by his late wife of 53 years, Joan, daughter Jennifer, son-in-law Spencer Burke, and grandson Brenden. According to The Wrap, funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 3rd at Gorman Eden Mortuary in Mission Hills, California.
